It showcases the richness of Philippine history and how immense its foreign influences were as well.


The MassKara Festival or Pista ng Maskara is a once in a year festival that is held every fourth Sunday of October in Bacolod, Philippines. The festival sites include the Bacolod Public Plaza, the Lacson Tourism Strip and the Bacolod Government Center. The word "Masskara" is a portmanteau, coined by the late artist Ely Santiago from mass which means a crowd of people , and the Spanish word cara meaing face. It is a well-known characteristic of the festival and adorned with smiling faces, giving rise to Bacolod by being called the "City of Smiles".


Bacolod City is a highly developed city in the Philippines. It is the capital of the province of Negros Occidental where it is physically situated but governed administratively autonomous from it.
